Enthusiasm, passion, reliability, planning and integration: here are the main features of the volunteers of Sacra Famiglia.

From the beginning, monsignor Pogliani used his parishioners and the ones from the neighbouring towns as first volunteers. Today, there are more than 1,000 volunteers, who work individually or in a group in the branches of Fondazione.

Our volunteers spend their time with single Guests, following projects that answer their needs in terms of relationship, friendship, affection and respect.

Some volunteers focus on activities involving small or big groups of guests. Their goal is to make the guests learn something new, or simply to entertain them: there are a dancing school, the “Apprendisti Chef” cooking school, the Painting Academy, the IT lab and many more projects created with the Volunteering Service and the Unities of Fondazione.

Fondazione includes groups of volunteers coming from different backgrounds. All of them have a common wish: sharing some of their time with weak people in order to give them joy and happiness. There are students from some high schools in Milan and in the surrounding area; groups of university students coming from different Universities in Milan; groups coming from different Parishes. The Volunteering Service organises with them some animation afternoons for the guests, especially during weekends.

Even in summer, many activities are organised to animate the hot days of our guests, with a summer volunteering project addressed to minors. These different activities are combined with formation and complement meetings for the volunteers: these meetings are useful to enhance and to develop during the service path.

The Volunteering Service also includes a “Hospitality Centre”, which is equipped to welcome small or big group of people (up to 25 people) for residential experience. During recent years, even groups coming from abroad (Latin America, U.S.A. and Spain) took part in the “Hospitality” project.

Volunteering in Sacra Famiglia has many shapes and colours: all of them express the uniqueness of the volunteers and, above all, of the Guests.
